WRITING E-MAILS

Writing effective emails is an essential key to your home business success!  This section will give you some important tips to follow to make the most of your emails, as well as offer you some excellent resources that can make a tremendous difference in your on-line business business (listed below keys and tips).

Want to make SURE your emails get read?
One of the biggest challenges in creating an effective email campaign is making sure your ads get past the spam filters.  If you've sent out thousands of emails only to have a minimal response rate it is likely that the majority of your ads are never making it to your prospects inbox!  It is important that you avoid words and phrases that trigger spam filters.  If you send emails to advertise your product or service it is a must to have good writing skills.  Always use your spell checker!  Your ads WILL make you or break you!  You can purchase your own software to check your messages against spam or invest in some e-books and software that will give you a quick boost in your writing skills!

Here are some simple keys for your email success

Body and Text Format:
Choose an appealing font and size that are easy to read.  Keep your sentences short (about 60 characters), rather than long lines that go all the way across the page.  Double space in between paragraphs and keep them short.

Keep it short and simple:
Remember the goal is to leave them curious enough and interested enough that they will click in to your site to view your product or opportunity.  Avoid using big words and sentences.

Make it personal:
It is always good to put your prospects/customers name in your email.  Write it as though you were talking to a friend, not a stranger.  Do not fill it with a lot of hype, exaggeration, and ridiculous promises- it will only scare them away!

Tell them why:
Let them know how and why they will benefit from your site or product.

Share your knowledge:
Be familiar with your site and/or product and share one or two key items about it.

Be honest:
Don't make promises you can not or will not keep.  Honesty is a key in building your customers/prospects trust.

Check it:
Make sure you proof read it and use a spell check program to catch any misspelled words.  When possible have a friend read it and give an honest opinion on your email before sending it out to others.

Use good email tools: (very important)
You will want to use good email management tools.  Writing one email at a time from your home computer is not only time consuming but also leaves more room for error.  You will want to find a good autoresponder that automatically sends out your emails for you.  (Visit the autoresponder section for additional information and resources).

Choosing a subject title:
The best written emails are worthless if they are never opened!  One help may be to go through your own incoming emails, think about the titles that you open and those that you delete without reading.  Ask yourself what was it that caught your attention.  Some obvious titles to avoid would be: "This is not spam",  You must read this",  "Get rich overnight",  "Email from your name".

  • When choosing your sales email subject line, you want to accomplish one of these 3 things:
    1.  Give news or announcement  (Ex: Ground floor announcement)
    2.  Emphasize the benefit  (Ex: Learn how to rank #1 on Google)

    3.  Make them curious  (Ex: Here's the secret marketing tool)
