So much hype, so many false and
overstated promises.
So, how do you choose the
right home business?
How do you avoid losing
money?
The first
thing you must do
is cut
through all the hype. There is money to be
made on-line,
it is possible to make big money, but not
overnight and not without some effort on your part. Do not fall in to
the trap that so many affiliate programs want you to
believe
(Your up-line will
not make you rich and
success does not happen without some effort!)
With that said, lets talk about some specifics to
help you avoid wasting money on program after
program.

It will give you some additional tips
and information that should help you in your search
for a profitable home business.
Following these questions
are several types of home businesses and examples
that will help you compare and see the
difference between truth and hype.
If you are looking for a
solid company to join, you can find several choices
here
What kind of home business
opportunity is
right for you?
Do you want to join an affiliate program (you sell or
market a companies product or opportunity for a
commission and/or residual income). Or do you want
to have a business that you have absolute complete
control of and you keep ALL of the profits? There
are advantages to both. Affiliate programs give
you the freedom of working whenever you want, provide
you with a company website and offer you the benefit of
an instant business. (The key is finding the Work
at Home Business that truly has good income potential)
On the other hand if you want a business that is only
limited by your own goals and effort you may want to
consider purchasing something you have resale rights to,
set your own pricing, build your own site (or in many
cases you are provided with a site) and you keep All the
profits.
First, here are
some key things you will want to ask yourself
(be honest
and realistic with your answers).
How much of an investment can
you afford?
This is where many new business seekers stumble.
Make sure that you are aware of all costs
involved to start, join, and run the business (be sure
to figure in the cost of advertising if it applies).
The investment can vary greatly- from nearly nothing to
hundreds. Almost every home business will require
you getting traffic to your website to really make
money- or you will need to somehow sell their products
to earn commissions. (Take a look at the leads,
advertising and traffic pages to become more familiar
with those additional costs, options, and resources).
Are there monthly quotas or
requirements to reach?
Make absolutely sure you know the answer to this
question! There are programs that require you to
sign up a certain number of members/affiliates before
you qualify to get paid, also many will require you to
sell a minimum amount of products and you receive a paycheck only
after the required amount has been reached each month.
This could mean that you work hard, make some sales, yet
do not get paid. (I personally do not recommend
such a program unless you are a well seasoned marketer).
Here is an example of a company that does not require
any quotas, yet offers very good income potential.
Are you a self-motivated
learner? Does the program offer on-line training,
direct training by your sponsor, company training,
training
calls, or no mention of training at all?
This is a very important question that
is often overlooked. The majority of people do
need some kind of help getting started so it is
important for you to recognize which training best suits
you! Are you self motivated? If so, you will
most likely do fine in a program that offers simple
on-line training. On the other hand if you work
best with a lot of guidance then you will want to look
for a program that offers additional training, such as
tele-seminars (training on the phone), a quality sponsor
that you work closely with, etc. Some companies
offer weekly training calls, and a few will even host
local meetings in your area that you can attend (again,
you will want to consider your time commitment and what
you are comfortable with).
Is the pay plan realistic?
Obtainable? What's required to make money?
Okay- be realistic here, that's the
best key. Go past the hype and look for some
facts. Every program says how much money CAN be
made, but keep in mind what they say does not represent
ALL who join and often reflects an elite few, if any at
all. Do
the numbers, keep your expectations within
reality? Be careful, don't get caught up in the hype! There may well be
a few reps or affiliates making thousands a month, but
how many members have they had to sign up to make that
amount, or how much do they sell monthly in products?
Equally important is how long did it really take them to
get to that amount of monthly earnings? If
a company (or rep) leads you to thinking your going to
be making thousands in your first month or two--RUN!
Remember to ask the questions above
and respond accordingly- it will be of great benefit as
you look at various affiliate programs or home business opportunities. Having
your own on-line home business can be very rewarding
when you choose the right business opportunity for YOU!
Next, lets explore
some possibilities!
Listed below are a
few home business programs, all of which provide you
with
a website.
It will benefit you to
compare them, take note of what the individual sites say
verses the information here. The sites listed are
to help you compare a few types of home businesses, varying
costs and to understand what hype is and how to cut
through it. These businesses do have income
potential, however beware of the hype! We have listed the realistic potentials
rather than what may be stated in their advertising to
help you recognize that hype exists in nearly all home
business advertising pages. It is essential that
you always keep that in mind when looking at any
home business opportunity.

This one is surprising... and fun. There are multiple
ways to earn. 1. Sign up others. 2. Be
a mystery shopper (get paid to eat out, shop at grocery
and retail shops, visit and evaluate hotels, etc.)
You get paid plus receive various products to try,
evaluate and give your opinion about. 3. Do
on-line surveys when you feel like it- get paid $1.00 to
$50.00, or in some cases try products for free and send
in your opinion. It will take you a bit of time to
register with all the businesses (it is very easy to
do). In addition you can earn commission from
referring others to the site. This is a small one
time membership fee but will produce fun income for
years to come. You can do it according to your
availability and pick and choose which opportunities you
prefer. This might be one to consider if you
are looking to make a little extra money and have
fun doing it!
Make money
and save money!
VERY Easy to
get started and very inexpensive.
